Environment Minister Nick Smith has announced new legislation to allow for instant fines of up $200 and $10,000 via the courts, for freedom campers who litter conservation areas and laybys.

Dr Smith said the legislation should be in place before the Rugby World Cup and the expected 80,000 plus vistors.

So the moral is to take any rubbish with you including waste.
